What is Georgia James?

Georgia James is a steakhouse at 1100 Westheimer Rd in the southern state. It is considered a luxe steakhouse, and a more casual eatery and offshoot of the Montrose steakhouse. The Georgia James Tavern, located at 777 Preston Street, inside the Market Square Tower, recently opened its doors as well.

Greg Peters is the executive chef of both this restaurant and Hay Merchant, and is behind all those delicious entrees listed on the Georgia James website.

Other sister restaurants include Underbelly Burger, One-Fifth Houston, and Blacksmith. But if you want the best in Houston food, you should definitely consider either the main Georgia James restaurant or the tavern sister site.

What Do They Serve?

The Georgia James menu includes cast iron Wagyu Zabuton, long bone ribeyes, french onion soup, New York strip, shishito, and shaved wagyu short rib. Sourcing is done locally when possible, which is why it was considered one of the best new restaurants in Texas by Texas Monthly. With Chef de cuisine, sous chefs, and more, this is a steakhouse a little more upscale than your typical fast casual eatery.

Everything from the appetizers to the entrees looks great. The restaurant even has an impressive list of salads and sides! I'd personally rather go for the French Onion Burger or a porterhouse over a wedge salad or slab salad when I go to a steakhouse, but even the fried Brussels sprouts and curried cauliflower seem promising.

Yelp reports that the restaurant does offer delivery and takeout, although we can see why someone might want the whole steakhouse ambiance if they're trying food from Georgia James. It's also got an impressive wine list from wine director Matthew Pridgen, so why not make a night of it with food, drink, and good company at the Georgia James steakhouse?
