McDonald's is Auctioning off a Golden Shamrock Shake Worth $90,000

Is it possible the gold at the end of the rainbow was a McDonald's Golden Shamrock Shake instead of a pot of gold? Recently the Golden Arches fast food chain released the limited-time McDonald's Shamrock Shake along with a new Oreo Shamrock McFlurry to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Shamrock Shake. Now, only a few days later, McDonald's is celebrating its golden anniversary in the best way possible, unveiling the Golden Shamrock Shake.

Introducing the Golden Shamrock Shake

McDonald's

Served in a hand-crafted cup made with high-polish 18K gold and precious stones (white diamonds, green emeralds, yellow diamonds), the cup took a team of seasoned jewelers over 140 hours to create. The appraised value of the luxurious cup is $90,000, and you could possibly win it.

"Tradition calls for a 50th anniversary to be celebrated with gold, so we wanted to create an item that not only represented this milestone, but our delicious Shamrock Shake," said McDonald's Vice President of U.S. Communications, Dave Tovar in a press release. "We invite all our fans to join us in this celebration as we cheers to 50 delicious years with the Golden Shamrock Shake and help raise funds for RMHC and its incredible cause."

Starting February 25, 2020, customers will be able to bid on the gold cup on eBay, with an opening bid of $1. Along with bidding, one lucky winner will get the chance to win a golden shamrock shake through the Mobile Order & Pay in the McDonald's App. Fans who purchase a Shamrock Shake or an Oreo Shamrock McFlurry from February 25- March 6 will be automatically entered into the sweepstakes. All proceeds of the winning bid goes to Ronald McDonald House Charities, a non-profit corporation that supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families. With over 275 chapters, the charity supports sick children by giving parents and family members a place to stay while their children are undergoing procedures at the hospital.
