Modern outlaw country newcomer Nikki Lane recently joined Old 97's on Late Night With Seth Meyers. The outfit performed a blazing punk western anthem called "Good With God."

As one of the original alternative country bands from Texas, the Old 97's know a thing or two about tearing up a stage. They started in 1993 in Dallas and are promoting their 11th studio record. Meanwhile, Lane just released her third album, Highway Queen.
The studio version of "Good With God" actually features Brandi Carlile. But Lane's tuneful howl feels precisely in place on the track as well.
"Good With God" feels like a bit of a "down the middle" tune about being sinful but right by your sins at the same time. That is, until the end of the chorus. "Alls I know is I'm good with God," Rhett Miller sings. "I wonder how she feels about me?"
Cue: Nikki Lane.
The scorching tune is classic Old 97's, and Lane's vocals make a wonderful addition. It certainly looks like they brought a new level to the late night show, too. They clearly impressed Meyers.
If you want to catch either Nikki Lane or Old 97's on the road, you're in luck. The Old 97's kick off a big U.S. tour in March. They're supporting new album Graveyard Whistling.
And then there's Lane, who is currently on her Highway Queen Stagecoach Tour. The dates culminate in her appearance at Stagecoach Festival in Indio, Calif. But then she goes right back out and hits it even harder. In fact, Lane heads across the pond for a European tour in May and June after that.
No word on whether or not the Old 97's and Lane collaborate in the future, but they feel right at home with each other.
