To kick off the 2017 CMT Music Awards, Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker and Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley joined forces to honor the late Gregg Allman.

The founding member of the Allman Brothers passed away on May 27 from liver cancer. The loss was a huge blow to the country music and rock communities, so it's only fitting to pay tribute to his talents with a star-studded performance.
You may not naturally put these three artists together as a dream collaboration, their a cappella intro of the Allman Brothers' trademark song "Midnight Rider" is sure to give you goosebumps.

Although the awards were overall lacking in great performances, this tribute was a fitting and welcome addition to the festivities. Derek Trucks, who joined the Allman Brothers touring band in the early 2000s, also joined in on guitar.
