Mirren is nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series - Drama for her role in "1923," a prequel to the hit western series "Yellowstone." Mirren is nominated alongside Bella Ramsey ("The Last of Us"), Emma Stone ("The Curse"), Imelda Staunton ("The Crown"), Keri Russell ("The Diplomat") and Sarah Snook ("Succession").
During a Deadline and Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles panel, Mirren revealed that she accepted the role of Clara Dutton in "1923" without reading the script. The acting legend has said that she watched the original "Yellowstone" spin-off "1883" in preparation.
"I think because, for me, the fascinating side of this is the history of it, and that extraordinary march west across America was so full of courage and pain and suffering and desperation and creativity," Mirren told Wide Open Country in 2023. "It always fascinated me, that part of American history, and so I watched '1883' with great, great interest and fascination and thought that journey was revealed so viscerally."
Additional Golden Globe nominees include Riley Keough ("Daisy Jones and the Six"), Pedro Pascal ("The Last of Us") and Juno Temple and Jon Hamm ("Fargo"). See a full list of nominees here.
