Hop Aboard This Winery Train for a Scenic Vineyard Experience

There are train rides, and then there is The Winery Train. The Winery Train is not your average run of the mill lavish food and wine trip through the backcountry. This scenic trip on New Jersey's only operating steam engine locomotive is more than just a ride, it's a guided winery tour of one of the finest wineries Pennsylvania has to offer.

The Winery train begins with a historic narrated journey along the scenic Delaware River. From there, passengers hop on board a bus for a short 15-minute ride through rolling farmlands where they will come to Villa Milagro Vineyards. At the vineyard, guests will be treated to a luxurious wine tasting with scrumptious appetizers. They will have the opportunity to learn first-hand about the winemaking process through a guided tour of the grounds.

Perusing the grounds discussing grapes and terrain, guests will be greeted with a panoramic view of the surrounding four counties, including the Delaware and the Musconetcong River. The scenic 104 acres the vineyard rests on is home to ten varieties of some of the finest grapes around. Through the sampling, guests will experience the complexity of these grapes that produce wine of only the highest quality.

After departing the winery with the souvenir glass in hand, guests will make the return trip back, but not without the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing picnic at the beautiful picnic tree grove at Ol' Susquehanna Mine. Guests that choose to spend the afternoon enjoying a relaxing picnic lunch can depart the train car and catch the next train in an hour and a half.

That gives guests plenty of time to sip on their recently purchased bottle from the vineyard with their packed lunch. If you're still feeling adventurous after your meal, you can wander through the corn maze or explore the mine - both only $5 a piece.

Or, you can stay on the train and explore the grove at the Phillipsburg station back where the beautiful journey began. Guests that choose to picnic in this grove will be greeted with a splendorous view of the Delaware and Lehigh River. Take your time basking in the view and reveling in your splendid afternoon.

Perfect for anniversaries, birthdays, or a luxurious afternoon, The Winery Train is the wine train ride that makes Napa, California jealous.

If you're ready to hop on board this scenic train ride, head on over to Delaware River Railroad Excursions and book your trip. The Winery Train runs from May 6th to October 29th and costs $35 per person - which is a steal!
