Everyone in Texas needs to mark your calendars because the Kite Festival is coming back to Houston this year. The 7th Annual Hermann Park Conservancy Kite Festival will be held on March 29. Houstonians will have the chance to come out to Miller Hill and fill the sky with over 10,000 kites of all shapes and sizes. It really is an unbelievable sight to be seen, and it only happens once per year!

The annual festival was initially started after Hermann Park's centennial event in 2014. The Hermann Park Kite Festival ended up being so popular they kept bringing it back every year. This event will be free to the public, just make sure to bring your own kite if you are interested in participating in the kite flying. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be lots of interactive activities like games, kite crafts, face painting, and more. There will be food trucks onsite as well as live music, a DJ, and student performances.

The festival is supported by local organizations that help Hermann Park Conservatory's community initiatives in the city. The park itself is located near the Museum District, the Texas Medical Center, Midtown, and Downtown Houston bringing together a wide array of Houston residents. Even if you don't live in the area, it gives anyone in the greater Houston area the chance to spend some quality time with your family in the beautiful outdoors and experience a part of the city that you might not spend a lot of time in.
If you aren't able to make the kite festival, stay tuned for some other upcoming events hosted by the Hermann Park Conservatory. They are busy year-round, constantly holding various seasonal events and activities. They have a Valentine's Day event and Gardens in the Starlight Open House coming up in February.
