The first fruits of British duo Ida Mae's creative distractions from COVID-19 come in the form of "Raining For You" and its music video.

It's yet another well-crafted country-blues cut, driven by married couple Chris Turpin and Stephanie Jean's tight, wistful harmonies. The pair gets rightful credit for chasing the magic of Robert Johnson, Charley Patton and other Delta blues greats, but they deserve just as much credit for channeling the Deep South's literary voices through such poetic statements as this retelling of a friends' romantic past.

"'Raining For You' was one of the first songs written on my metal bodied 12 String National Resonator and the first track we cut in lockdown earlier this year," the duo shared in a statement. "It is a simple love song written from the perspective of a friend of ours, someone we knew was losing themselves in the darker memories of a past romantic relationship."

The new track previews the Raining For You EP, out Nov. 20 and highlighted by Marcus King's six-stringed cameo on "Deep River." It's the follow-up to Ida Mae's 2019 album Chasing Lights, which was made alongside producer Ethan Johns (Laura Marling, Kings of Leon) at Peter Gabriel's Real World studio in Bath, England.

Johns is one of several big-name producers to work with Ida Mae. Others to set in the producers chair include T-Bone Burnett (Robert Plant & Allison Krauss), Jake Gosling (Ed Sheeran / Shania Twain), Mike Crossey (The 1975 / The Arctic Monkeys), Cam Blackwood (George Ezra / Florence & The Machine), Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno / Imogen Heap) and Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers).

Turpin and Jean now soak up the American South from their Nashville home when they're not on the road, opening for the likes of Blackberry Smoke and Greta Van Fleet.

Both members previously made beautiful music together in alt-rock band Kill It Kid.
