Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit have released a poignant music video for their poignant new song "If We Were Vampires."

The fifth track on Isbell's The Nashville Sound album, "If We Were Vampires" delves into the dark side of every love story -- its end. The lyrics tackle the inevitability of death, and the fear of one day having to live without the one you love.
"It's knowing that this can't go on forever/Likely one of us will have to spend some days alone/Maybe we'll get forty years together/But one day I'll be gone/Or one day you'll be gone."
The video uses animation to achieve an ethereal effect that does a good job matching the somewhat mournful, yearning tone of the song.
Isbell released The Nashville Sound in June of this year and despite its name, it's unlike most everything else coming out of Nashville these days. "If We Were Vampires" is the second music video to be released from the album, after "Hope the High Road."
