Jelly Roll has come far since he first started preparing earlier this year. The singer admittedly struggled to walk even a mile when he was starting off. "I couldn't walk a mile when I started trying to do this back in January," Jelly Roll told ET. "So the fact that we got 3-point-whatever it was, got it down, I felt really, really good about it."
The musician dug in and decided to set a goal for himself. He wanted to complete a 5K. Accomplishing the race left him "really motivated." He said he "got really emotional at the finish line."
As far as how he's feeling now? Well, he's a little tired and banged up, but he's doing alright. "I feel great, I'm a little tired," he admitted. "It was a little bit harder than I thought it was [going to be], but it's awesome, man." While training for the 5K, Jelly Roll ended up losing "like 50 to 70-something pounds."
Post-race, Jelly Roll celebrated with an ice bath and a kiss from his wife Bunnie XO.
Jelly Roll Feels Accomplished
The singer is feeling accomplished. His wife recently revealed that he left social media due to bullying about his weight. However, Jelly Roll said he now feels moved by how many people supported him. "I think the coolest thing is how many people stopped to tell us that they were motivated by us, other big guys," he shared. "It was just really cool to see that."
He also has plans to return to social media eventually, telling Variety, ""Oh man. I'm sure I'll be back, but right now I'm not thinking about anything but just how I'm gonna honor the TK Foundation and Toby's family. And we've got bigger fish to fry, man. I don't hate social media. And..."
But for now, he's just living in the moment and focused on his family and friends. A crowd gathered with the singer to celebrate. Jelly Roll simply shared, "I feel incredible. I'm surrounded by friends and family."
However, he's not resting on his laurels. He has a new goal in mind. He said, "Next year, a half marathon! We're saying it now, absolutely!"
