In Jim Lauderdale's new single, "Time Flies," the music perfectly captures the bittersweet feeling of time passing while the lyrics tell of a love that "almost made it until the curtain call" but ultimately met its end with typical emotional turmoil. The new track will be featured on Lauderdale's upcoming summer album of the same name.

Written by Lauderdale and Mando Saenz, the song is one that instantly speaks to Lauderdale's skill as a songwriter and performer. He's able to constantly push himself creatively to blend styles that add up to relatable pieces of Americana gold.
Lauderdale will actually have two album releases on August 3 this year. In addition to Time Flies, which follows up London Southern, only released last year, Jim Lauderdale and Roland White will also come out. This album features recently uncovered recordings with mandolin legend Roland White that were made in 1979, 12 years before Lauderdale's first solo record.

Lyrics to "Time Flies":
Woke up with our hands on our heads
Slid off the wrong side of the bed
It's sad when it's not the same
No point in passin' 'round the blame
The things that we meant to do
But we didn't get to
Time flies
Don't it seem like a dream come between when it could be calm?
Time flies
Don't it seem like a dream come between when it could be calm?
After the changes, you can't turn nothin' back
Until the curtain call
Way back in the early days
When we were runnin' through the maze
Still searchin' for a stroke of luck
Guess we're all still growin' up
If it's not too much to lose
Wanna hear some different news
Time flies
Don't it seem like a dream come between when it could be calm?
Time flies
Don't it seem like a dream come between when it could be calm?
After the changes, you can't turn nothin' back
The different stages have played a different act
To our amazement, we almost made it
Until the curtain call
Time flies
Don't it seem like a dream come between when it could be calm?
Time flies
Don't it seem like a dream come between when it could be calm?
