John Prine and his record label, Oh Boy Records, treated Nashville TSA workers to lunch on Friday, Jan. 18 during the U.S. government shutdown. The government employees are currently working without pay during the longest government shutdown in history and Prine wanted to do something special to brighten their day.

Prine shared his appreciation for the TSA employees in a message on social media.
"The Nashville airport is my second home and everyone there always takes care of me, it's nice to be able to do something small for them today," Prine wrote.
The Nashville International Airport shared their appreciation on Facebook, even referencing one of Prine's songs, "Billy the Bum," in the process.
"John Prine, ladies and gentlemen. What a gesture of appreciation to BNA's dedicated Transportation Security Administration staff. Hope to see you again soon at BNA, where we 'prove we can run twice as fast as the sun by losing our shadow at night.'"

Prine was announced as a future inductee into the Songwriters Hall of Fame along with fellow country songwriting legend Tom T. Hall on Jan. 12.
Prine released his album The Tree of Forgiveness last year.
