Josh Grider spent the past decade building a sturdy fanbase throughout Texas and beyond. Now he's ready to release music that will find ears across the globe. Case in point: new single "Good People."
It's an undeniably catchy tune that packs all the right ingredients to please any country fan. Anchored by Grider's folksy baritone vocal and wrapped in just the right amount of pop sensibility, the tune sings the praises of everyday heroes.
"'Good People was written as a reminder not to lose hope, not to get lost in the 24-hour terrible news cycle," Grider tells Wide Open Country. "A reminder to recognize and be encouraged by the fact that most of us are surrounded by way more good people than bad."
For the video, Grider wanted to capture that exact same sentiment. "[The video] turned out to be the the exact visual representation of what I hope people take from the song when they hear it," Grider says.
The video features neighbors and strangers from all walks of life meeting and interacting for the first time. Grider says some of the participants are his friends and neighbors, and others he met the day of the shoot. And it will definitely put a smile on your face. Grider wrote the tune with longtime collaborator Bobby Hamrick and James Slater (who has cuts with Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney, among others). It's the first single off the New Mexico native's forthcoming album of the same name.
Good People represents the first time in years Grider completely controlled his own musical output. He released five albums since 2005, including a live record and an EP in 2015. You can buy Good People on March 2.
