During her recent visit to the beloved radio show A Prairie Home Companion, Musgraves performed a brand new track that shows her softer side. "Butterflies" taps into the way a new love can unleash feelings of joy and self-worth that were beaten down by a previous bad relationship.
So, was this tune inspired by her new fiancé and fellow country singer Ruston Kelly, or just a spark of songwriting brilliance? Either way, the plucky banjo and heartwarming lyrics are sure to appease longtime fans clamoring for new music.
Take a listen to her live performance of the track below.
Musgraves has been in the studio since wrapping up her A Very Kacey Christmas Tour back in December. Although it's unclear when we'll get an official LP release date, don't be surprised to hear more new music from Kacey in the weeks to come.
