Kacey Musgraves' rise as a creative force and country music star included quite a few late-night television appearances, yet she still hasn't performed on Saturday Night Live. That changes on May 12, when the "Space Cowboy" singer appears on this season's next-to-last episode.

In recent years, SNL has featured two country artists per season. Earlier this year, Chris Stapleton wowed audiences by bringing along special guest guitarist Sturgill Simpson. The show does a great job at highlighting the genre's most talented women, with Margo Price and Maren Morris appearing on past episodes.
Never one to take herself too seriously, let's all hope that Musgraves appears beyond the two musical segments and shares a little of her Golden, Texas charm with a national television audience. As for her two guaranteed segments, it will be interesting to see which songs off recent album Golden Hour get the nod. If anything in her catalog suits a late night in New York City, it's "High Horse," so let's hope it's half of the equation.
