The team has acquired the rights to A.E. Hotchner's 1976 biography, Doris Day: Her Own Story. The book highlights Day's incredible life, comprised of interviews with her family members as well as numerous high-profile Hollywood legends including Bob Hope, James Garner, and Jack Lemmon. Day was known for starring in numerous countless films throughout her career including Calamity Jane, Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much, which gave the world her signature song "Que Sera, Sera," The Pajama Game, Pillow Talk, The Thrill of It All, Love Me or Leave Me, and more. Known for being the girl next door, Day was one of the biggest movie stars of her time.

The new series will undoubtedly dive into Day's personal life as well. She was married four times and sadly her third husband, Martin Melcher, lost her entire fortune so she was forced to pursue a TV career to save herself from financial ruin. In the 70s, she became a major animal rights activist as well, something she shares in common with Kaley Cuoco.

According to Variety, Cuoco will serve as an executive producer along with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and David Madden from Berlanti, Suzanne McCormack from Yes, Norman, and Bob Bashara, the trustee from the Doris Day Estate who will be working closely with the team on the new series. Cuoco is definitely a busy bee this year. In addition to this new project, she is also working on Season 2 of The Flight Attendant as well as season 3 of the animated series Harley Quinn, also on HBO Max, in which she voices the titular character.
