"If you've ever wondered what Kelly Clarkson is like when she's been drinking a lot, you've got to watch Monday. She is drunk," Shelton said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! "I don't care if she gets mad at me for saying this. I got what I needed out of her, and she's already been on the show, so we're good now. But I'm talking about her being wasted on Barmageddon."
Clarkson was hilarious and personable on the episode, though no more so than usual. Ultimately, she led the first Team Kelly win on a show featuring Shelton since their heydays on The Voice. Clarkson competed against Fast & Furious star Michelle Rodriguez.
A Team Kelly Win
Clarkson played alongside and sought redemption for Tu Tran Nguyen, who's bad at magic tricks, while Rodriguez teamed with Ben Gaun, who's infamous for a graduation day blooper.
In the first of many hilarious moments, Clarkson accidentally nailed Rodriguez in the face with a kicked ball during a game of human foosball. Rodriguez got the last laugh because her team —and Shelton, their goalie— won in a blowout.
Next, Rodriguez's team won again, this time in a game that's a cross between tic-tac-toe and beer pong. Team Kelly took an early advantage, and by the end, Clarkson was in full-on trash talk mode to break Gaun's concentration.
Clarkson faired better at souped-up cornhole, especially when the Cornholer Maximus machine gun got introduced in the final round. This was less because Clarkson excelled at the game and more because Rodriguez was comedically bad.
Next, Clarkson tossed axes viciously during Drunken Axe Hole. After her first turn, she told co-host Carson Daly that "that feels very good, the release." When master of ceremonies Nikki Garcia asked "Kelly, who hurt you?" the singer responded that "there's a whole record about that." Clarkson's teammate won the second round with beer goggles on. For the final round, neither Clarkson nor Rodriguez could hit the narrow side of the barn while wearing beer goggles and chunking saw blades instead of axes. Ultimately, Team Kelly won.
The competition ended with a drinking game twist on karaoke. Teammates poured a shot whenever certain keywords were sung, trying not to miss a word. Rodriguez sang "Living on a Prayer" and was surprisingly good, sounding like Joan Jett fronting Bon Jovi. The queen of Kellyoke was amazing, as expected, singing "I Will Survive" despite admitting to being very drunk. Team Kelly won the game and the overall Barmageddon championship.
Afterwards, Garcia jokingly asked Clarkson if this victory felt better than winning The Voice.
"Here's the thing, if I would've been against Blake, it would've been as great as winning The Voice," Clarkson responded.
The show ended with Clarkson joining Shelton for a fun cover of George Strait's "All My Ex's Live in Texas."
