In March this year, Kelsea Ballerini released "I Hate Love Songs." Now, the song that sticks its tongue out at PDAs and lovey-dovey mush has a video to match its cheekiness.

Originally, "I Hate Love Songs" wasn't even going to make it on to Ballerini's 2017 record Unapologetically, much less become the album's second single after "Legends." But after receiving an overwhelmingly positive response to the song on the Grand Ole Opry stage, Ballerini knew she needed to get into the studio and put the sassy track written by herself, Shane McAnally and Trevor Rosen on her record.

Directed by Tracie Goudie, the music video starts with Ballerini spinning around on a big, red cushion heart. Throughout the short film, Ballerini is met with cheesy Hallmark-movie worthy moments that she's supposed to find charming, like an engagement and a bouquet toss. But the displays of affection don't ring true to Ballerini's heart and she amusingly rejects the scenarios.

The colorful video manages to playfully poke fun at what's typically thought of as romantic situations while still being charming. She may hate love songs and sappy moments, but Ballerini has a big heart and her own way of showing her admiration for her partner.

Ballerini performed "I Hate Love Songs" at this year's CMT Music Awards where she was nominated three times for her "Legends" music video. She began the performance acoustically, showcasing her beautiful voice, and then ramped up to a full band while still keeping it freshly understated. Later in the week, Ballerini stuck around in Nashville and premiered a clip of the song's music video at Nissan Stadium during CMA Fest.

Catch Ballerini on Keith Urban's Graffiti U tour this summer starting in June and running through November.
