Kid Rock helped spread some Christmas cheer in Music City when he paid off $81K in layaway debts at a Nashville Walmart. Inspired by actor and director Tyler Perry, who recently paid off $434,000 in layaways at an Atlanta-area Walmart, the artist took care of the balances of over 300 Nashville families.

Kid Rock tweeted to Perry, letting him know that his act of kindness inspired him to play Santa in his own city.
"Great idea! I followed your lead and paid off the layaway at my local Walmart in Nashville," Kid Rock wrote. "Merry Christmas and God Bless You!"

The artist's act of kindness follows a recent controversy in which the star made derogatory comments about "The View" co-host Joy Behar. Shortly after, he was removed as grand marshal of Nashville's 2018 Christmas parade. On Dec. 15, the music star will walk in the Christmas parade in Lieper's Fork, Tenn.
It seems that the holiday season inspires several celebrities to play secret Santa. In 2016, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill payed off $5,000 in layaways at a Florida Walmart and gave out cards that read "Merry Christmas, from Tim McGraw and Faith Hill."
