The ethereal ballad, which features Americana Awards and Honors Emerging Act of the Year nominee Erin Rae. is a love song about the cosmic grace of the human experience.
"You see, in Heaven it don't rain/ And they don't feel pain/ They don't know what they're missing," Brown sings. "Justine, open up your heart/ I want the whole thing."
"'This song came at me quick. It fell on me like a ton of bricks. I've been mining the ditches and picking through gravel on the same stretch of mental highway for most of my career, and this song is my favorite roadside treasure I've found so far," Brown tells Wide Open Country. "To me, it captures a true snapshot of the conversation I've always had with myself and with the unknown: that, yes, life is painful... but in spite of and because of that it can also be indescribably beautiful. Especially when you're looking really hard for the magic."Listen to "Justine" below.
Dream Songs is the follow-up to Brown's 2018 album Uncommon Prayer. Brown will play an album release show at The Basement in Nashville on June 9. Nicki Bluhm and Kyle Emerson will also perform.
