Alabama singer Kirk Jay earned a four-chair turn from The Voice coaches with his stunning rendition of Rascal Flatts' "Bless the Broken Road."

When asked what kind of record he'd like to make, Jay responded "country 'til the day I die," leading coaches Adam Levine and Jennifer Hudson convinced that Jay would select Blake Shelton as his coach.

But Kelly Clarkson was determined to fight to have the singer on her team.

"This is what I love about your voice. I think it has this big, soulful presence that country music doesn't have a lot of," Clarkson said. "I can represent both those worlds for you to help you as a coach."

Clarkson went on to remind Jay that she has a presence on country radio and Shelton wasn't the only option for country singers.

But Shelton had some assistance from his longtime rival Adam Levine, who said "For the first time, maybe in my life, I want to see you on Blake's team."

When Hudson asked the 22-year-old singer why he chose the song to perform, he explained that "Bless the Broken Road" was the first country song he'd ever heard and the one that made him fall in love with country music overall.

In the end, Jay joined Team Blake and an already stacked list of country hopefuls on the competition.

This season of The Voice is proving to be an exciting one for country fans. Recently North Carolina veteran Mikele Buck earned a spot on Clarkson's team with a Brooks and Dunn song, while a West Virginia yodeling sensation joined Team Blake.

Danielle Bradbery, Cassadee Pope and RaeLynn are among some of the country stars who've gone on to have success after competing on The Voice.

Country singer Kelsea Ballerini joined the show this season as the coach for the Comeback Stage, a digital series which gives contestants who weren't chosen in the first round a chance to re-enter the competition.
