Country singer Lauren Alaina recently canceled two of her concert stops citing a family medical emergency. Alaina had to cancel her Rochester, N.Y. date on Wednesday, Aug. 29 as well as her Friday, Aug. 31 appearance at the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam in Panama City Beach, Fla.

Alaina hinted at the turmoil in her family when she posted a thank you note on Twitter for her CMA Award nomination for New Artist of the Year. "God always shines some light in a time of darkness. It's been a tough week for my family, but this brightened everything up a little..." she wrote on Aug. 28.

No concrete details have been given regarding the cancellations, though Alaina stated at the 2018 City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game that her stepfather, Sam Ramker, was given a diagnosis of Stage IV cancer. On his GoFundMe page, Kristy Tara Ramker wrote an update on Wednesday, "He is currently in ICU due to an infection in his lungs. Today they are going to be draining the fluid. Please keep us in your prayers. Treatment is going well. We just hit a speed bump in the road. Treatment will continue this week as planned." On Thursday, she added, "We are waiting on MRI results now. Please pray for answers but most of all for a good report!" Though news outlets are speculating this is the reason for her cancellations, no confirmation has been made from Alaina's team.
Alaina's next tour date falls on Sept. 6 when she hops back on the High Noon Neon Tour with Jason Aldean. Their first show back takes place in Macon, Ga. while the next night takes them to the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Keep an eye on her social media for any updates pertaining to future cancelations or, hopefully, good news.
