Lauren Alaina honored the one-year anniversary of stepdad Sam Ramker's death on a huge stage on Monday night (Oct. 21) by landing her highest score to date on ABC's Dancing With the Stars with a routine built around new song "The Other Side."

Shortly after Blake Shelton and Craig Morgan reintroduced songs of faith to mainstream country music, Alaina shared her personal testimony with "The Other Side," a track she co-wrote with Zach Kale and Jon Nite. Its lyrics rest on the promise that Alaina will see her late stepfather again in the afterlife.

"I wanted to create a song that did him justice," Alaina says in a press release. "He couldn't hear me sing without crying because he was so proud of me ... I wrote this song so that he can live on, and never be forgotten."

The "Getting Good" singer and her dance partner Gleb Savchenko performed a contemporary dance to the song for its world debut. The next morning, the song became available via streaming platforms.

"He was always my champion. He was always my number one fan. Now he's my guardian angel," Alaina wrote on social media about Ramker.

Alaina returns to the road when her That Girl Was Me Tour begins Jan. 15-16 with back-to-back shows at Nashville's Exit/In. Her 2020 tour itinerary also includes dates on Shelton's Friends and Heroes Tour alongside John Anderson, Trace Adkins and the Bellamy Brothers.

"The Other Side" Lyrics

He said, I see my mama, she looks about 23
She's running my way with the angels
Right next to Jesus
Yeah, his eyes lit up, staring at the living room ceiling
And with his last few breaths, he said, I wish you could see it

Don't you cry for me 'cause I'm in God's glory
And I can see his face, it's amazing
I know you have doubts but I see it right now
I promise it's real, keep praying
I'll be waiting, take your time
And go write a story
That you can't wait to tell me
On the other side
Oh, oh, on the other side, oh, oh

I said, someday I'm gonna get married
Better find a way to be up in the rafters
When I have you a grandbaby
I got somebody good to name 'em after
There's gonna be a lot of sadness
On a lot of happy days
I'll try to think of this moment
This place and hear you say

Don't you cry for me 'cause I'm in God's glory
And I can see his face, it's amazing
I know you have doubts but I see it right now
I promise it's real, keep praying
I'll be waiting, take your time
And go write a story
That you can't wait to tell me
On the other side
On the other side

All my pain, I get to leave it
It's time for me to get my healing

So, don't you cry for me 'cause I'm in God's glory
And I can see his face, it's amazing
I know you have doubts but I see it right now
I promise it's real, keep praying
I'll be waiting, take your time
And go write a story
That you can't wait to tell me
On the other side
Oh, oh, on the other side
