It's the most wonderful time of the year; Girl Scout Cookie season! This year, Brownies, Daisies, and Girl Scouts are adding a brand new Girl Scout cookie to the lineup and its tart and sweet. New Lemon-Ups are crispy lemon cookies topped with a sweet glaze. The new cookies are stamped with eight inspiring messages such as, "'I am a leader" and "I am a go-getter." Who doesn't like a motivational message in their cookie?

Starting this week, local Girl Scouts of the USA troops will be selling new Lemon-Ups as well as favorites like Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, and Do-Si-Dos to hungry customers. The Girl Scout entrepreneurs sell the cookies for $5 a box, with specialized cookies (Girl Scout S'mores and gluten-free Toffee-tastics) for $6. The selling season is only six to eight weeks, so make sure you grab a box or two before the troop moves on to other activities.
New Girl Scout Cookie Lemon-Ups is Available in Select Markets
According to the Girl Scout Cookie Program, the Lemon-Ups will be available in select markets and will replace Savannah Smiles, a lemon and confectioners sugar cookie. In other markets, Lemonades, a lemon cookie topped with a tangy glaze will be available.
This year, Brownie Bakers, one of the two cookie producers, has committed to using clean palm oil in their recipes. Clean palm oil is palm oil that has been sustainably harvested without disrupting the habitat of animals and people who live among the oil palms.
Along with buying the cookies from door-to-door sellers, you can also purchase the new lemon cookie online from the Digital Cookie Platform with an invite from a Girl Scout. The Girl Scouts site also lets you search for nearby booths that are set up around town.
