Kid Rock and 88-year-old country music icon Loretta Lynn decided to have a little fun over the weekend during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic-friendly renewal of Lynn's son Ernie's vows.

"My Ernie & Crystal renewed their vows this weekend," Loretta wrote on Instagram. "It was beautiful and everything it should be. Marriage isn't always easy--heck it's not even always pretty, but love holds you together and you push through the bad days to enjoy the good ones. I'm so proud of them and wish them years of happiness. Things got crazy then--my boy Kid Rock was there and we've always teased about getting ourselves married. Well, the preacher was already there so we had some fun with it. Sorry girls, he's taken now!"

Loretta followed her statement with a hilarious string of hashtags: #gottahavesomefun #88andfeelinggreat #laugh #tabloidfodder #cougar.

As Loretta telegraphs, the longtime friends relished in a photo op which trolled the tabloids.

"Now you must understand how close Kid and Memaw have gotten," wrote Ernie's daughter Tayla Lynn on social media. "Like they adore each other. They joke around all the time about getting married and saying to heck with the rest of em. So Dad and Crystal decide to make that happen! They have the preacher announce that he's ready to do the vows now! Memaw and Kid both become giddy. Like school kids. They were so caught off guard but both so happy  They played along. (Cause obv it's a joke) Unc (Tim Cobb) even had the veil ready We all Laughed, sang, hugged. It was a moment last night in the midst of the world turning sideways where love and joy were absolutely shared."

If any gossip sites do take the bait, remember that Loretta and her granddaughter both stated clearly that Kid Rock isn't the Coal Miner's Daughter's duet partner in matrimony. No one got married for real, and the collection of Lynn's belongings at Nashville's Ernest Tubb Record Shop isn't moving down the street to Kid Rock's Big-Ass Honky Tonk Rock 'n' Roll Steakhouse.

Tayla Lynn's a country artist in her own right, as a solo act and the duet partner to Conway Twitty's grandson, Tre.

As for Kid Rock, he's been a fixture at Lynn-related get-togethers in recent years. For example, he appeared at her 87th birthday party at the Bridgestone Area alongside Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, Jack White and other famous friends.
