"There's no grace period between album one and album two," she says. "But I have some time set aside in a couple of months to really sit down and start writing again."
Although she's preparing for her next chapter, she says she's not done with her debut album, Hero, just yet. Her first record included the hit single "80s Mercedes" and the Grammy-winning "My Church."
"There's a lot of life left in Hero, and a tour, so I'm taking it one day at a time," Morris confesses. "The songs will come as they come, and I'm excited because I haven't gotten to be really creative in a while. I'm excited to get back and do what I do and just write a song."
It's been a busy year for the Texas native, whose debut album premiered at No. 1 on the country charts. To top it all off, she scored four Grammy nods, was crowned the Country Music Association's "New Artist of the Year" and launched a sold-out headlining tour.
While her rise to fame was meteoric, it wasn't overnight. Before the number-one hits and sold-out shows, she was working on her songwriting craft. Morris moved to Nashville at the age of 20. She spent her first few years in Music City penning tunes for artists like Tim McGraw and Kelly Clarkson. Soon, the 27-year-old will be going back to her songwriting roots as she preps for her second album.
In the meantime, you can catch the singer-songwriter on The HERO Tour with her boyfriend, Ryan Hurd. For tour dates and tickets, visit Morris' official website.
