As far as country duets go, Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty's "You're The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly" is one-of-a-kind. But when Margo Price and Paul Cauthen cover it, well, they get pretty dang close to the original.

Margo Price and Paul Cauthen shared the stage recently during a Dallas stop on Price's Nowhere Fast Tour and the pair delighted the Kessler Theater crowd with a lively rendition of the 1978 classic.
For those who haven't heard the song before, pay special attention to the words. Though it may seem like a mean-spirited song, it's actually kind of sweet. You know, if you and your sweetheart are into that kind of playful banter.
Nobody needs to tell Price or Cauthen how to get into character, either. Watch the fun performance below.
L.E. White and Lola Jean Dillon originally wrote and recorded this tune in 1977. Lynn and Twitty added a few of their own lines to the song to give it a special twist. Like in the second line, when Lynn sings, "You're the reason I'm hanging our clothes outside on wires." In the original, White sings, "And you're the reason I've started hanging out in bars."
This classic "white trash portrait" of love inspired plenty of covers. Vince Gill and Cyndi Lauper sang the song together on her 2016 album Detour. Nikki Lane and J.P. Harris also offered their own take on a four-song EP called Why Don't We Duet In The Road.
Margo Price continues her Nowhere Fast Tour all the way into July, including two sold-out nights at Nashville's famed Ryman Auditorium. While Cauthen joined Price for Texas dates, other openers join the critically acclaimed singer along the way. Additional openers for select dates include Blackfoot Gypsies, Aaron Lee Tasjan and others.
