On a day already filled with enormous sadness and grief, the music community was hit with the passing of rock legend Tom Petty. His music influenced artists across all genres, including country music. Marty Stuart, a legend in his own right, opted to pay tribute to Petty with an uplifting cover of "Runnin' Down a Dream."
Stuart stopped by BBC's Later... With Jools Holland while touring overseas. After rolling through most of his track "Time Don't Wait" from his latest record, Way Out West, he added a country slant to Petty's 1989 hit tune.
Short but sweet, Marty ended the tribute by saying, "we love you Tom Petty and all the Heartbreakers." It was the perfect nod to yet another music icon taken far too soon.
Later this month, Stuart head back to the states to perform one last trek across the U.S. before the end of the year. You can find a full list of his upcoming tour dates here.
