After bringing back the McDonald's Dollar Menu early last year, it looks like the chain is making some other changes to the McDonald's value menu. The fast food chain's website lists only two items and a note to stop by a local store to see what else is on the value menu.
Last year, McDonald's brought back 11 items to the value menu. As of right now, you can get any size soft drink for $1 and a McCafe drink for $2, but the website does not list any other items as part of their value meals. However, local stores can set some of their own deals.
In a statement on their website, McDonald's said, "Local markets and owner/operators will have the opportunity to offer delicious food and beverages at a compelling value on the $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu, while also meeting the tastes and preferences of their local customers."
Like several other fast food chains, it appears McDonald's is turning to app-based deals instead of a larger set value menu. There are several limited time deals listed in the app, and it looks like those deals change fairly frequently.
Franchisees at other chains, such as Subway, have expressed concern with their parent company's value menu pricing. With fast food chains competing for market share, it will be interesting to see which direction McDonald's and other chains go with balancing individual stores' profit margins and attracting customers with deals.

McDonald's has just unveiled its latest value menu in what some industry experts are already dubbing "Value Menu Wars 2.0" in the fast food world. After announcing the return of the popular dollar menu, McDonald's new $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu will hit stores nationwide on Jan. 4, 2018, replacing the McPick 2 Menu.
At the fast food giant, $1 items on McDonald's' new value menu include a sausage burrito, a McChicken Sandwich, a cheeseburger or any size fountain drink. For $2, diners can get their hands on a Sausage McGriddle, a two-piece Buttermilk Crispy Tenders, a Bacon McDouble or a small McCafe Drink.
For $3, big spenders will find a Sausage McMuffin with Egg, a triple cheeseburger, a Happy Meal and the new Classic Chicken Sandwich — a buttermilk crispy chicken filet made with white-meat on a toasted bun with pickles and McDonalds' new "creamy, sweet and tangy Signature Sauce."
According to a press release, the new menu "continues McDonald's progress of changing for the better through positive updates such as All Day Breakfast, Signature Crafted Recipes with premium toppings, delivery on UberEATS, a new café-quality McCafé espresso menu and more."
According to McDonald's USA President Chris Kempczinski, "We built this new menu with variety and value firmly in mind. Our new value menu includes surprises like our completely new Classic Chicken sandwich, the inclusion of our Happy Meal and more.
Whatever our guests crave — a delicious meal, a new taste, a mid-day snack or a family treat — they will find that $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu provides them with value and choice."
Are you happy to see the once-popular value menu return? The menu items scattered across the tiers of the largest hamburger chain's new dollar menu sound reasonable.
