Miranda Lambert's Favorite Cocktail is the Perfect Summer Beverage

Beat the heat with one of Miranda Lambert's go-to mixed drinks.

Miranda Lambert's new cookbook Y'all Eat Yet?: Welcome to the Pretty B*tchin' Kitchen includes food and beverage recipes for every season. Among them is this cocktail mix that's easy to make and ideal for the remaining weeks of the summer.

Named for her 2019 hit, the Bluebird cocktail blends just five ingredients with liquor.  Though the recipe lists bourbon, with Woodford Reserve suggested, Lambert said on Late Night With Seth Myers that tequila or Tito's vodka could be used, as well.

Bluebird Cocktail

Ingredients (Makes 1 Drink)

5 blueberries
2 fresh mint leaves
1 ounce simple syrup
2 ounces bourbon (I like Woodford Reserve)
2 tablespoons lime juice
Lemon wheel, for garnish

Per instructions posted by Good Morning America (GMA): "Muddle the blueberries and mint with the simple syrup. Add to a shaker with ice, along with the bourbon and lime juice. Shake vigorously. Pour into a collins glass with fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon wheel."

Lambert co-wrote her new cookbook with author, journalist and scholar Holly Gleason. It's filled with recipes from and stories about the women in Lambert's life: namely her mother Bev, grandmother Nonnie and family friends "the ya-ya's."

"We started a chopped cookoff in 2020 and we would have our husbands pick an ingredient a week so we would have five ingredients to make a dish. We couldn't Google," Lambert said in a video shared in April on Instagram (as quoted by GMA). "Really it was just an excuse to just do something creative and then drink about it on FaceTime. We started really talking about all the recipes that we've made all of our memories around and I've known these ladies my whole life. They raised me basically."
