Lambert explained that she adopted Thelma and another Great Pyrenees, Louise, in May 2016 to "watch over" her farm, which she calls her "happiest place on earth."
"The Kitties, chickens and mini horses needed to be looked after and these 2 girls have done that since the day we brought them home," she writes. "They rode on my bus all the way from Dallas to Nashville and on that 10 hour drive I fell in love with them."
She continues confirming the news that she lost Thelma.
"Yesterday we had to say goodbye to our sweet Thelma," she writes. "She spent her days lounging in the barn and her nights keeping watch over all of us. She lived the last 8 years with no fences, just freedom to do what she did best. Love and protect. I loved her with all my heart."
The photos Lambert posted feature adorable snaps of the the sweet pair of dogs. The last slide in the post features a video of Thelma living the high life and having "breakfast in bed" with a fan pointed towards her.
The singer also gave an update on Louise, who she says has "retired" from farm duties and is "getting all the more love" from her other dogs.
"It hurts so bad to say goodbye to these sweet companions but their love is always worth it," she writes. "How lucky are we do get to have friends like Thelma. I am so proud to have been part of her story."
"Y'all don't forget , love a shelter pet," she concludes.
Lambert has three other dogs — Delta, Bellamy and Cher — in addition to Louise. She also has other animals, including cats and horses, on her Tennessee farm.
