Even megastars have artists they still look up to. For Miranda Lambert, Steve Earle is at the top of her list. Earle's most recent project, So You Wannabe an Outlaw, was released on June 16, and Lambert was able to collaborate for the song "This Is How It Ends."

The pair sings "This is How it Ends" as a couple looking back on a failed relationship — weary, but not depressed. Both Lambert and Earle have gone through very public divorces, so the song choice seems especially appropriate for the pair.
Lambert has covered Earle's songs before, most notably at Austin City Limits in 2006, she covered his song "Hillbilly Highway," citing his influence on her music. "We're going to rip him off too. We already did a Merle [Haggard] song, we're going to do one of his. I think it's OK to rip off people you like."
Although he was born in Virginia, Earle spent much of his childhood in Texas. So You Wannabe an Outlaw is the first studio recording Earle has made in Austin, Texas. Miranda Lambert isn't the only collaboration you'll find on the album. Earle also worked with Willie Nelson and Johnny Bush.
Lambert has been on fire lately. Along with "This Is How It Ends," Lambert recently released a raw, unplugged video for "Tin Man." She's also landed a role in an upcoming comedy, Something In The Water. Really, is there anything Miranda Lambert can't do?
