Say hello to your new weight-loss buddy. Starting a weight-loss journey on your own is daunting, and quite frankly, hard. However, thanks to technology and an app called, Noom, a healthy lifestyle change is only a few buttons away. Noom is a program that combines the power of technology with the empathy of real human coaches to deliver successful behavior change and sustainable weight loss results. And get this, with Noom you can make almost any recipe in your favorite cookbook because the Noom app isn't a fad diet like the keto or no-carb, but rather a behavior change.

Noom and Food Choices
When it comes to food choices, Noom is all about showing users the best foods to eat while still understanding that making a drastic meal plan change isn't an overnight process. Instead of cutting certain foods out, Noom created a color-coded food list to help users reach their weight loss goals. Green foods include hearty veggies such as sweet potatoes and spinach, fruits like blueberries, healthy dairy such as non-fat Greek yogurt, and whole grains like brown rice and oatmeal. Green foods are the least calorie-dense foods and should make up the bulk of your meals.
Yellow foods include lean proteins like chicken breast, dairy such as eggs and low-fat milk, healthy fats such as avocado and olives, and all of your favorite grains such as black beans, chickpeas, quinoa, and whole-grain tortillas. Yellow foods should be moderately added to your healthy eating habits.
The most calorie-dense foods fall under the red food category. These foods should be eaten in smaller portions and include processed meat, oils (including olive oil), sugar such as fruit juice, and guilty pleasures such as pizza, hamburgers, and chocolate. As long as you keep these in moderation, you are on track with the Noom diet. No foods are off-limits, which makes the Noom program so easy to follow.
Every day simply input which foods you are eating and the Noom App will tell you which color the food falls under. After a while, you'll remember what foods and which color and will start to make positive behavioral choices on your own.
The app also includes hundreds of healthy recipes that follow the color-coded program. Weight Watchers has points, Noom has colors. I'll stick with the colors.
Decoding the Noom Database
When dieting, its best to keep a log of all the food and beverages you are consuming. Thankfully Noom's food database makes it easy to track all of your meals. With over 3.7 million options to choose from, including nearly 200,000 food items that can be found scanning a barcode, it's headache-free figuring out how many calories are in each meal. The database even includes meals from 850 restaurants and chains.
