Nutella Banana Bread is Sweet and Nutty

Banana bread is already a delicious breakfasty baked good on its own, but incorporating chocolate makes it even more irresistible. Nutella is the perfect addition, adding a hazelnut-chocolate flavor to already tasty food. If you're craving a sweet, flavorful treat, Nutella banana bread doesn't disappoint.

Nutella Banana Bread

Banana bread is not only the perfect way to use up old bananas at home, it's a great avenue for other flavors. I personally love zucchini chocolate-chip banana bread, which tastes a lot yummier than it sounds. I'll take any excuse to put chocolate in an otherwise-healthy food, especially if that chocolate is the amazing Nutella. This banana bread recipe involves toasting the butter, which results in a warm, rich flavor that goes wonderfully with sweet chocolate-hazelnut spread and banana.

If you're looking to make food that walks the line between breakfast and dessert, this Nutella banana bread is the way to go. You can use any ripe bananas, but overripe brown bananas often yield the most flavor. For a crunch, add a half cup of toasted walnuts, and for an even more chocolatey taste, add a half cup of chocolate chips. Peanut butter is also a tasty addition. To truly indulge, enjoy with a scoop of ice cream on top!

How to Make Nutella Banana Bread

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan by buttering and flouring it. Use a layer of parchment paper if you prefer.

Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to a large bowl, mixing until fully combined.

Brown the butter by melting butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook butter, scraping the bottom and sides of the saucepan with a rubber spatula until butter is golden brown and smells nutty. Watch the entire time, as butter can burn very quickly. Transfer melted butter to a separate bowl and leave it to cool to near room temperature.

When cooled, add in the mashed bananas, sugar, yogurt, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir wet ingredients until fully combined, and then add in the flour mixture. Stir dry ingredients in until just combined, and make sure not to overmix.

Pour half the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly with a knife. Spoon half the Nutella over the top in dollops, and use a toothpick or skewer to swirl it into the batter. Then spoon the remaining batter over the top and spread evenly. Dollop the remaining Nutella on, then swirl it into the batter. Bake the Nutella banana bread for 55 to 60 minutes or until golden brown. Your bread is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Enjoy!
