It's been a scary week for the Drummond family. Last Wednesday Ree Drummond's husband Ladd and nephew Caleb, suffered a head-on crash in their fire trucks. Today, Ree took to her website to give an update on the situation, and how dire it could have been.

In the original reports, Ladd refused medical treatment and drove himself to the Pawhuska hospital to get looked out. However, once he arrived at the hospital doctors discovered that he had broken his neck in two places, one of which was very close to "being catastrophic". He was transferred to Tulsa where he had surgery to stabilize one of the fractures. Ladd will need to wear a neck brace for the next couple of weeks to let the fracture heal.

Caleb broke some ribs and suffered a bad concussion.

Both men are currently back at home resting.

The family is in our thoughts.

Fires can be a catastrophic event for farmers. This week, due to the high winds, a number of grass fires have started in the Osage County area. More than a dozen fire trucks responded to a fire on the Drummond Ranch, where over 200 acres burned. To help put out the fires, Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond's husband Ladd Drummond, and nephew Caleb Drummond hopped into trucks to help the crews. Around 1:43 p.m on Wednesday afternoon the two were involved in a head-on collision with each other, ejecting 21-year old Caleb Drummond from the truck.

According to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the crash happened on County Road N3660 outside of the family ranch. The two trucks collided due to "high winds on a gravel road" that caused the visibility to be decreased. Neither of the men was wearing seatbelts and Caleb "was ejected approximately 70 feet from point of rest."

Pioneer Woman's Nephew In Critical Condition After Head-on Crash

Ladd refused treatment while Caleb was taken to the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa where he was admitted in critical condition with head, arm, leg, and internal injuries. There have been no updates at the time of writing.

Ree Drummond has been hosting her Food Network television show out of her Pawhuska family ranch since 2011. The Pioneer Woman has not made a formal statement on the crash.

The Pawhuska community has already started showing their support for the family. According to News on 6, Mary Jo Upchurch, who works downtown near the Pioneer Woman's Mercantile restaurant and shop, shared some thoughts about Caleb.

"It's going to be a big shock to our community because Ladd and, I mean, their whole family has definitely done great things for our community and they're great people," said Upchurch. "All I can ask is they get better, that Caleb pulls through, that Ladd's doing OK."
