It's officially autumn because Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back at Starbucks! Back for its 17th year, the popular fall drink is back for the season along with the fall menu which includes Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, which debuted last year, and the Salted Caramel Mocha (which is also available as the salted caramel mocha frappuccino). The fall menu also includes favorite bakery items such as the pumpkin cream cheese muffin, pumpkin scone, and pumpkin bread.

Sound the alarms, PSL fans. It's not fall yet, but the return of the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks is no longer that far off. Employees of the coffee chain are reporting on social media that supplies for the fan-favorite drink are starting to show up at Starbucks stores across the country and we can't wait for the seasonal drink to hit the menu.

Usually, the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte goes back on the menu around the end of August or beginning of September. It's the end of the year corollary to the first robin of spring—when you see the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks, you know that cool weather, cozy sweaters, and pumpkin pie spice spiked everything are on their way.

The debut date of the popular Starbucks coffee drink is closely watched and fans have already decided which day the PSL will once again be available this year. August 28 seems to be the most likely release date, although August 26 is also a popular rumored option. In 2017, the PSL rolled out for an early release on September 1 and officially became available on September 5.

The potential dates are based on evidence like the picture a Starbucks employee posted on Reddit. Business Insider reported on an image showing a carton of the pumpkin spice sauce and the discussion including several employees talking about whether or not their store had already received the PSL supplies.

Although the company has not said anything officially about the official launch date, it does look like they are getting ready for PSL fans favorite time of year. A few weeks ago, the company launched a Facebook group called "Leaf Rakers Society" where fans of autumn. The intro to the page reads: "This is a safe place for a) pumpkins b) year-round scarf-wearers c) those who would rather work on their Halloween costume than their tan."

The pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks was first tested in 2003 then officially introduced in 2004. The drink was an immediate hit with customers; since then, the annual release date has become something of a holiday for fans. In 2015, Starbucks added real pumpkin puree to the ingredients.
