"I didn't really feel I had a book to write until I stood on the distant shore and looked back over the ripples my life has made — on myself and on others," the Grammy winner said in a statement. "My songs were the stories of my life and I learned from those who listened, they were theirs too — my fans inspired me and continue to do so."
The book will trace Travis' life, from his childhood in North Carolina to his rise as an American country music superstar. The memoir will also delve into Travis' struggles with drinking, his 2013 massive stroke and his road to recovery. Travis also shares how his strong faith helped him through his darkest times.
Travis told People that the book allowed him to really reflect on his life and career.
"A book about my life wasn't something I thought much about while I was busy living it — now I know the difference between life and living," Travis told People magazine via email.
