Reba McEntire promised that her new album Stronger Than the Truth would focus on good old fashioned country storytelling and the album's latest release delivers on that vow. "In His Mind" is a devastating ballad about a heartbroken man who leans on denial after his wife walks out on him. He still puts out her favorite coffee cup and leaves the front porch light on, despite the fact that his ex has been gone for quite some time.

"In his mind, she'll be home any day now/ He can't see her leaving him behind," McEntire sings. "In his mind, she'll find her way back somehow/ Some things never change/ She's never far away/ In his mind."
Written by McEntire, Liz Hengber and Tommy Lee James, "In His Mind" is the third release from McEntire's forthcoming album Stronger Than the Truth (out on April 5). The song follows the album's title track and the Western swing tune "No U in Oklahoma."

Stronger Than the Truth, produced by Buddy Cannon, features 12 new tracks and will be released on Big Machine Records.
The record is McEntire's follow-up to her 2017 gospel project Sing it Now: Songs of Faith and Hope.
In a statement, McEntire said the album is a return to her roots.
"When I started selecting songs for this album, I stuck with that same formula -- go with the songs that touch my heart, and hopefully when you hear me singing it, they'll touch yours too," McEntire said in a statement. "I grew up on an 8,000-acre family ranch singing at dance halls, honky-tonks and rodeos with my brother and sister. I haven't gotten to do that in a while, so I'm thrilled to pieces."
On April 7, McEntire will host the Academy of Country Music awards. This year marks the 16th time McEntire has hosted the ceremony.
