The classic vodka sour is distinctive for its frothy topping, made with egg white foam. This brings a fancy look to the drink with little to no effort. Like all sour cocktails, this tasty drink is a blend of liquor, citrus, and sweetener. There are lots of variations depending on your preferences and what you have on hand, the tequila sour and gin sour being some other popular versions.

The vodka sour recipe is also similar to the Cosmopolitan, which is basically a vodka sour with cranberry juice. The juice creates a festive pink color, always a perk when it comes to fancy cocktails. The vodka sour is a great base for fruity, citrusy flavors, so you can always play around with adding dashes of orange juice, pink grapefruit juice, or even pomegranate juice for extra flavor.

For a cherry vodka sour, add a splash of grenadine, or make an amaretto sour with amaretto instead. Orange liqueur like Cointreau is also a tasty addition to your drink recipe. While this vodka cocktail recipe doesn't call for it, some cocktail connoisseurs call for sour mix rather than the lemon juice and simple syrup combo. The prep time is only 5 minutes!

However, this is up to you, and this tasty, sour drink will taste delicious either way! If you don't have a cocktail shaker, you can find one easily on Amazon or in the kitchen section of many stores. Your cocktail repertoire will thank you!

Add the vodka, lemon juice, lime juice, simple syrup, a few dashes angostura bitters and egg white to a cocktail shaker. Don't add ice cubes into your glass yet! Shake for 15 seconds.

Add in the ice, and shake again for 30 seconds.

Strain the drink into a classic cocktail glass. The foam should collect at the top. Serve with ice, and garnish with a lemon wedge and maraschino cherry. Enjoy!
