Waffles with Caramelized Apples
Your waffles just got an upgrade! Try out these Waffles with Caramelized Apples for a fun autumn-inspired breakfast treat.
Ingredients
- 2 apples, peeled and chopped small
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp water
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
For The Waffles
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/3 cup oil
Instructions
For The Apples
- In a saucepan over medium-heat combine the apple, brown sugar, water, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook, stirring occasionally until the apples are tender, about 20 minutes.
For The Waffles
- In a bowl combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar. In a separate bowl combine the eggs, milk, and oil. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix until moistened. Cook the waffles according to your waffle iron.
- Top each waffle with the apple mixture and serve.
Notes
We like to use Braeburn apples for this recipe.
Keep the waffles warm by placing them in a 200ºF oven on a sheet pan.
