Before Halloween, we took a peek at the most popular candies in each state. It surprised and shocked me to see how little representation Reese's got. I couldn't believe it only ranked as the number one favorite candy in four states! It competed better in our definitive ranking of Halloween candy (ranking number five overall), but I think everyone must be taking crazy pills. In my opinion, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups is number one, and Reese's Pieces is number two. So what if you combined them; wouldn't that make for some pretty Outrageous bars?

A new candy bar is happening, and I couldn't be more excited. Reese's just basically combined the two candies with smooth milk chocolate in the new Reese's Outrageous bars. They're an explosion of texture from the hard candy-coated Pieces, with all of the creamy peanut-butter goodness that you've come to love from the classic candy.
(Psst: Wondering what to do with all that leftover Halloween candy? Pair it with wine!)
The Hershey Company won't actually release the official new bars until May 2018, but the candy brand debuted them in Royal Oak, Michigan, at the town's local Halloween event. 30,000 samples were passed around, making this one of the largest sampling events in history. How lucky to get an exclusive first taste of this brand new candy.
Why Royal Oak? This town is so into Halloween celebrations, they close down Main Street every year (and have for more than 30 years). Their annual Spooktacular event is such an extravaganza of trick-or-treating that they were once named the number 3 town for trick-or-treaters in the nation.
Hershey's company found out about this town's love of Halloween and planned to reward their fans at the Spooktacular. They brought a cannon filled with Reese's-colored confetti and covered the sidewalks with Reese's Pieces-inspired dots.
A storefront was cloaked in secrecy and the curtain fell away to the sound of drum lines. Reese's Outrageous candy bars for everyone! Talk about an outrageous way to debut a new candy at the perfect time.
New Candies
Reese's is on a role with debuting new candies. In recent months, we have seen the unveiling of their new bite-sized Reese's Crunchers, which features peanut butter chips, peanuts, and puffs covered in milk chocolate. They've also pulled the plug on a new candy that launched in 2016, the Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter Cups (yup, that's right, pieces in the Reese's for a full "cupfusion"). Finally, Reese's Crunchy Cookie Cups hit shelves in May, 2017 (how could you hate peanut butter + chocolate + cookies? Yes and yes!).
The 1.4-ounce bar will sell for $1.09, the King-sized 2.95-ounce bar for $2.09, and a 10.5-ounce bag will be available for $3.89. Find out more about this new, exciting candy bar.
