More recently, the series, which "explores race, culture and identity through genealogy and genetics, helping people to trace their ancestral histories," taught Rosanne Cash that she likely shares a "distant common Black ancestor" with Golden Globe-winning actor Angela Bassett.
Cash is the daughter of fellow singer-songwriter Johnny Cash and his first wife, Vivian Liberto. She's furthered the family business with four Grammy Awards and 11 No. 1 country singles.
Bassett, a New York native and Hollywood star, has appeared in such films as Boyz N the Hood, Waiting to Exhale, Black Panther and the Tina Turner biopic What's Love Got to Do With It. She's also starred in multiple seasons of American Horror Story.
Cash responded to this news about her "DNA cousin" excitedly: "It makes me feel like a bad ass."
