Story Behind the Song: How Ryan Hurd Found 'Love in a Bar' With Maren Morris

The story behind country music's most recently engaged couple began long before the days of releasing their own songs to radio. Ryan Hurd and Maren Morris first met as burgeoning songwriters. At the time, they probably didn't know that they were perfectly crafting Hurd's first radio single.

"'Love In A Bar' is very much an autobiographical song about my relationship with Maren," Hurd told People Country.

The chemistry between Morris and Hurd in the writing room was evident from day one. "Last Turn Home," which eventually was cut by Tim McGraw, is where it would all begin for the couple.

"We would write and then after we'd go over to a bar in midtown and have a couple beers," Hurd said. "That's when we started making a real connection, beyond a creative partnership."

"Love In A Bar" eloquently depicts the memories of the beginning stages of the couple's relationship. The lyrics paint a vivid intensity of the journey for his listeners.

"We found love in a bar in the back of a patio corner/Away from the lights it was us and Corona/And hearts on fire like the cigarettes you smoke."

Upon announcing their engagement, Morris put up a series of pictures on Instagram. One of them of her on Hurd's lap, showing off her ring while holding a bottle of Corona. Symbolic indeed.

The solid relationship they were building those nights in the bar is truly evident. Their admiration and support of each other has been unwavering, especially with all the time they are spending apart while out on the road. Morris is currently on the 15 in a 30 Tour with Sam Hunt. Hurd is opening up for Florida Georgia Line and will join in on the remaining dates of the Morris's Hero Tour starting in October.

2017 is bringing a lot of exciting things to the couple. We can't wait to see what else is in store for the one's lucky enough to find love in a bar.
