As far as vacations go, Texas is one of the few affordable places that offers year-round sunshine and deep, varying cultures. A trip to Texas is like the ala cart of vacations: it all depends on your interests and budget. We've rounded up six Texas Airbnb's that are quintessentially Texas, in their own unique ways.
Castle Cottage — Austin
READ MORE: Exploring the Regal Castles of Texas
If you thought Austin couldn't get any cooler, you're wrong. There's a little castle, and you can stay there. Dubbed Castle Cottage, the Castle Estate is a City of Austin Historic Landmark. "The limestone cottage has a private entrance and hidden Spanish garden with fountain."
It's dreamy and romantic, and right in the heart of the city — three blocks from Austin's SoCo district, to be exact. When you're not out exploring the city, enjoy the castle's Spanish garden, fountain, hammock, and colorful flower wall.

The Montclair House — Dallas
Located in the Historic Winnetka Heights, this home is breathtaking. Around since 1910, the affluent subdivision Winnetka was the first Oak Cliff neighborhood to be rezoned. The Winnetka Heights Historic District was created by the city of Dallas in 1981.
Nestled in this quiet neighborhood, the Montclair house is a vision. Tastefully decorated in shades of white, this rental is an oasis of natural light. It's also close enough to the city to enjoy Dallas' restaurants, fine dining, and nightlife.

Because Tin Valley Retro Rentals is basically in the middle of nowhere (in the best way), you'll have a full view of that big Texas sky every night.

Gingered Swan — Luling
The Gingered Swan is part of the Tiny Texas Houses property, and it's so effing adorable. Situated on 43 natural acres, this tiny house is made from scrap. "The materials for the Gingered Swan came from the Ugly Duckling Salvage Mining Bootcamp in Luling Texas. We tore down an old house and used those exact materials to build the Gingered Swan a few months later," the owners write on Airbnb. You'll get 80 sq. ft. downstairs and 70 sq. ft. upstairs. Basically, you get to stay in a tiny, adorable recycled home — surrounded by Texas landscape and wildlife.

Quaint Guest Cottage — Dallas
This two-story guest cottage located in the Highland Park is somewhere we'd like to call home. It's not too dressed up or too dressed down, and the lawn is divine — the perfect escape, yet nestled right in the city. It puts you in close proximity to Katy Trail and Dallas' fantastic restaurants. Or, you could stay in and enjoy some of the complimentary wine (red or white) provided by the host, perfect for a night on the private outdoor patio.

Off-grid Adobe Dome — Terlingua
Another unique stay in Terlingua, this one is an off-the-grid adobe. Let's just emphasize this (because how fun): A remote, off-grid adobe dome, powered by solar power, and near Big Bend National Park.
The dome is located on one of the "few remaining territories under a dark sky ordinance." Plus, it's just 25 minutes to Big Bend. Fair warning: there's no air conditioning or shower on-site.
