We Ranked Slurpees Flavors From 7-Eleven To Find The Best Summer Drink

There are some things that are just so quintessentially American. Monster trucks, Disneyland, spray cheese...the list goes on. One drink product that screams "America" is a 7-Eleven Slurpee. These sweet, fruity, slushy drinks are everything we want and need in the summer, and they're unique to our neighborhood convenience store, 7-11. Usually 7-11 celebrates Free Slurpee Day on July 11th, or 7-eleven day. So which Slurpee flavor is your favorite?

However, for the second year in a row, 7-11 is feeding America free Slurpees for the whole month of July! The only catch is, to cash in on your free slurpee, you need to part of the 7rewards loyalty program. 7-Eleven will drop one coupon for a free small Slurpee drink into the accounts of all 7Rewards app members on July 1st.

New members can join at 7-eleven.com/7rewards or through the 7rewards loyalty app, and they'll get a coupon as soon as they make an account. The coupon expires July 31st, so make sure to serve yourself that sweet, slushy brainfreeze before time runs out. Why get ice cream when you can get a free slurpee?

The Chief Marketing Officer, Marissa Jarratt, decided to offer a free slurpee month last year during the Covid-19 pandemic, to avoid large crowds around the Slurpee machines as slurpee-lovers across America head to 7-Eleven for their slurpee fix. Along with the slurpee month, 7-Eleven is offering special deals for rewards members throughout the month. All roller grill items, like taquitos, Cheeseburger Bite rollers, and more are $1 all month, birthday cake donuts are 50 cents on July 11th, and you get a free small slurpee with any 7-Eleven delivery!

I tried every available Slurpee flavor to prepare slurpee-lovers everywhere for the most important month of the year. Here's a definitive ranking of the slurpee flavors, worst to best, to get you ready to slurp away all month long!

My Favorite Slurpee Flavors Ranked

6. Vitamin Water Orange

The Vitamin Water Orange flavored Slurpee was an interesting experience. It's not that it's bad, just not as good as the classics like Coca-Cola and Cherry. It has a vibrant orange flavor and tastes very citrusy. It does taste a bit like vitamin water, and is less sweet than most of the other options. So, for those who love the flavor of orange, go for it! For those looking for a more classic Slurpee experience, skip it.

5. Banana Berry

This flavor had mixed reviews among me and my roommates. We feel that it doesn't fully deserve the name "banana berry," as it really just tastes like sugary banana. We also noticed that it tastes exactly like banana runts, those little yellow candies shaped like bananas? Such a throwback! The banana flavor is a bit overwhelming, especially if you're not a huge banana fan, but overall- would drink again.

4. Piña Colada

The Piña Colada Slurpee drink was very coconuty and delicious. One point in its favor is that it stayed frozen the longest by far, making it most heat-resistant for a hot summer day. Another point is that this one is the most true to flavor- it really tastes like a piña colada! If you like piña coladas, this one's for you!

However, it also seems like a bit of an acquired taste, since the piña colada flavor is pretty strong. If you're unsure of your stance on piña coladas or not a big coconut-pineapple fan, I'd steer clear of this one. My roommate feels that this would be the best candidate for a Slurpee-cocktail; just add some rum and you're ready for a Slurpee party!

3. Jones Soda Birthday Cake

slurpee

The Jones Soda Birthday Cake was another intriguing experience. When reading the name, you're not sure what to expect. Is it a Jones cream soda flavor? Or does it really taste like birthday cake? Upon first slurp, you're not quite sure what you're tasting. However, after more slurps and consideration, we decided that it tastes like a mix of cherry cream soda and cake batter. Which is pretty delicious!

2. Cherry

Lydia Greene

Anyone with any Slurpee experience knows that cherry is one of the classics, hailed as the best fruit-flavored option. This dependable and tasty Slurpee has a strong cherry flavor that's also mild enough to go will with others. If you love making Slurpee hybrids, this is a good one to mix with a soda flavor like Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew. However, it's yummy in its own right as well. Get a cherry Slurpee for a tangy yet sweet frozen drink.

1. Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola comes in as number one in the slurpee ranking! This is a staple of 7-Eleven Slurpee flavors, and a great flavor to start out with for those just beginning their Slurpee journey. Coca-cola is already a go-to soda flavor, and putting it into the slush form found in ICEE machines brings it up another notch. You can't go wrong with this one, and you will find yourself craving its sweet Coca-cola deliciousness if you enjoy more than couple. For a Slurpee that will provide a yummy experience every time, Coca-Cola is the way to go.
