Another day, another food recall. This time Flower's Foods, Inc. Swiss Rolls are under voluntary recall due to salmonella concerns. And don't be surprised if you've never heard of the brand. The chocolate and creme-filled cakes are distributed nationwide and go by the brand names, Mrs. Freshley's, Food Lion, H-E-B, Baker's Treat, Market Square, and Great Value. The brand also goes by Captain John Derst's Old Fashioned Bread in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Upon further inspection, a potential presence of salmonella was found in the ingredient, whey powder. While no illnesses have been reported, the products are still under a voluntary recall due to salmonella.
Salmonella is very dangerous (and sometimes fatal) for young children, elderly people and people with weakened immune systems. People who have been infected often experience bloody diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and fever. In rare cases, the salmonella can cause fatal infections in the bloodstream and cause arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.
