The #7 Roethlisburger is a Patty Piled with Sausage, Cheese, and Fried Eggs

You know you've made it in the world when someone names a sandwich after you. And it seems like Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers has done it. Located near Heinz Field sits Peppi's Old Tyme Sandwich Shoppe, who have been serving Steelers fans since 1983. Along with a wide array of subs and salads, the sandwich shop also serves up a sandwich fit for the field: the #7 Roethlisburger.

Back in 2004 when the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Ben Roethlisberger from Miami University, the sandwich shop knew they had to create a sandwich to commemorate the rookie quarterback. In an old ESPN short, Chris Berman gives the sandwich with its namesake, who agrees the sandwich is "pretty good!"

And it's not only the NFL player that likes the sandwich. Reviews on Tripadvisor share similar love for the sandwich. One reviewer from Detroit shared, "Coming to the 'Burgh? Gotta go to Peppi's for a Roethlisburger. A large sandwich with eggs cheese sausage and more the was surprisingly good. I will definitely go back again. The restaurant itself is nothing special but the sandwiches are." Another reviewer shared that because the sandwich is made fresh, prepare to wait and be patient while the employees cook up your meal.

The two-handed sandwich features ground beef topped with pork sausage, fried eggs, onion, lettuce, tomato and American cheese on a hoagie. And every ingredient has a purpose; including scrambled eggs for 'scrambler' and lots of beef and pork to represent his strength and size.

You can pick up the $7.00 sandwich at any of the four Peppi's locations across the city, whether you find yourself on the Northside or in the Strip District. And make sure to add a basket of french fries to round out this Big Ben burger.
