The show teased that it would be unmasking the "Anonymouse" character, and the episode kicked off with the character's performance. When the lights came up, the character was revealed to be a mouse wearing a sparkly, studded jacket and short, tulle skirt. The unknown singer then launched into a rendition of Heart's "What About Love" while lights and fog swirled around the stage. The judges were in awe as they listened to the performance, and the singer impressed everyone in the room, hitting hard-to-reach high notes and giving everything to the performance.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the judges threw out multiple guesses about the masked singer's identity. After the performance, the singer gave the first clue: "Just like Michelle Obama, Oprah, and Angelina Jolie, I'm on one special list times 100." The first round of guesses from the judges included Lady Gaga (guessed by Ken Jeong), Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys (guessed by Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg), and Christina Aguilera and Ariana Grande (guessed by Nicole Scherzinger).
The show didn't reveal identity of the Anonymouse right away, though, instead cutting to moments from the show over the years and performances from The Masked Singer alumni. Performers included Michelle Williams, Rumer Willis, Barry Zito, judge Scherzinger, Victor Oladipo, Bow Wow and Joey Fatone. Fans also caught a glimpse of other characters that will be joining the show on season 10: Diver, Gazelle, the Royal Hen and Husky.
Before Anonymouse was revealed, there were a few more clues about their identity. According to the clues, the person behind the mask has a background in acting, has a "connection" to Nick Jonas, has had their share of "inner demons," might be from Texas and more. When it was time for the judges' final guesses, Jeong stayed with Lady Gaga and Thicke guessed Demi Lovato, as did Scherzinger and McCarthy-Wahlberg.
In the end, Anonymouse was revealed to be Lovato. Watch the reveal here:
