Exclusive Premiere: The Texas Gentlemen, 'Bondurant Women'

North Texas' own soul-country outfit The Texas Gentlemen have been making waves as one of the most in-demand band of players in country, rock and pop. After playing behind everyone from George Strait to Ed Sheeran, the group is now stepping into the spotlight with their debut record, due out Sept. 15.

Today, we're giving Wide Open Country readers an exclusive first listen to their new song "Bondurant Women," and the accompanying music video. The clip is a clever parody of the 1997 cult documentary Hands on a Hard Body, which follows a group of willing participants in Longview, Texas vying to win a pickup truck. To earn the prize, they have to be the last one standing with their hands firmly on the vehicle. Naturally, a lengthy endurance contest like this can bring out the worst and weirdest in people.

Directed by Horatio Baltz, the clever video shows the band members transformed into a troupe of characters trying to snag a spiffy 1996 Ranger. The groovy, 70s-inspired beat powers the humorous narrative that has the gents battling temptation and fear, from cold beers to Jesus Christ himself (or maybe just his lookalike cousin from Dallas).

So, who walks away with the big prize? Find out by watching the full video for "Bondurant Women" below.

Texas Gentleman member Beau Bedford tells Wide Open Country "Bondurant Women" is one of the "most potent songs on the album." Written and sung by the band's close friend Noah Jackson, the band recorded the track during their four-day session at the historic FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Ala.

"This song was the moment the sessions really fell together, complete with a standard Texas Gent funky jam at the end," Bedford says. "The video is an extension of that jam as we are just having a lot of fun sharing music that we really care about."

"Bondurant Women" will be featured on the Texas Gentlemen's upcoming album, TX Jelly. Those who pre-order the LP now will receive a video that gives the full backstory of "Crazy" Eddie and the rest of the clip's motley crew.
