'The Voice': Mentor Wynonna Judd Says Reba Is 'Like Family' as They Team Up to Coach Artists

"Wynonna knows music. She knows soul."

Veteran country singer Wynonna Judd showed up to the set of The Voice on Monday night's episode to serve as this season's "Mega Mentor." The job not only allows Judd to impart her wisdom to the show's hopeful contestants, but it made for a sweet reunion between herself and coach Reba McEntire.

Before Judd and McEntire sat down with the first Knockout round contestants, they had some catching up to do. The two redheaded country legends — who have 90 years of experience between them — reflected on their lives, careers and friendship with one another. Sitting on a couch, Judd touched McEntire's hands out of excitement while McEntire asked, "Do you remember the first time we met?" Judd answered, "No," and McEntire humorously replied, "Me neither."

McEntire then sent huge praise to her fellow country singer in an interview.

"When they told me Wynonna was going to be the Mega Mentor, I was thrilled to pieces," she says. "Wynonna knows music. She knows soul."

"If they said, 'Take one album with you on a deserted island,' it would be Wynonna," McEntire adds.

Back on the couch, Judd compared McEntire to the great women of country music like Loretta Lynn. They also reflected on their similar childhoods and how far they've come in their lives.

"I never had a baby doll, I never had a teddy bear," McEntire said of her upbringing.

Judd nodded her head in agreement, adding, "We had canned goods."

"Pots and pans and canned goods," McEntire adds.

Judd then reflected on the close relationship she shares with McEntire and her excitement to mentor the singers of The Voice.

"It was really important to be here because Reba is like family," she said.

"I needed this to connect with the next generation of greatness so they get the same wisdom that I got from Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard," she adds. "So, I'm passing it on."

Judd coached Team Reba and Team Legend during her first night of the Knockout round. She returns Wednesday night at 9 p.m. ET to continue mentoring the other teams.
